Beyond Extraction: Sustaining the Future of Mining Mine Entra Conference 2025

Zimbabwe is growing a competitive Minerals and Mining sector through regulatory reforms to attract key global investment in line with global practices of Environment, Social and Governance, ESG standards, the Minister of Mines, and Mineral Development has said.

Speaking to the media at the on ongoing Mine Entra Mining Showcase, with the theme, "Beyond Extraction: Sustaining the Future of Mining", in Bulawayo, the Hon. Minister of Mines and Mineral Development, Winston Chitando said, “Based on this year’s theme "Beyond Extraction: Sustaining the Future of Mining", the key issues to be addressed at the Mine Entra Conference 2025 should focus on integrating sustainability and innovation across the mining value chain moving the industry forward through practical solutions and partnerships.”
The Mines Minister said that, “this involves a critical shift towards integrating robust ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, adopting green technologies and digital transformation for efficiency, and promoting economic diversification through local beneficiation and value addition.”
The, “conference will champion the development of a more sustainable, innovative, and collaborative mining sector that secures its social license to operate and creates lasting value for communities and the economy.” Said Minister Chitando.
Speaking on how exhibitors can take advantage of the presence of regional and international investors and suppliers participating in Mine Entra 2025, Hon. Chitando said that, the “exhibitors at Mine Entra 2025 can maximize the presence of regional and international investors and suppliers by leveraging networking platforms, showcasing innovation, and aligning with Zimbabwe’s mining priorities like beneficiation and sustainability. Exhibitors must adopt a proactive and strategic approach.”
The Minister added that, “during the event, the focus should be on engaging in meaningful conversations, showcasing demonstrable solutions, and tailoring their pitch—emphasizing ROI for investors and reliability for suppliers.”
Critically, success is sealed through diligent post-event follow-up, where prompt, personalized communication is essential to transform initial contacts into concrete deals and long-term relationships, ensuring the brief meetings at the exhibition yield tangible business outcomes.
