The system developer, Mr. Terrence Chikasha, said that, the system has Teacher-Friendly Features, Intuitive Content Uploading, meaning, the Teachers can upload videos, documents, PDFs, and text for specific topics without technical know-how.
The platform also enables easy creation and assignment of quizzes and homework and the Teachers can manage student attendance, reports, and fee records from a single dashboard, while allowing Offline Accessibility & Data Management.
Future app functionality includes offline access and automatic downloads for students with limited connectivity, and still be able to offer Custom notifications for new content uploads, optimized for areas with limited internet access.
Mr. Chikasha, said that, the Gigasoft e-Learning solution offers extensive flexibility over standard, Learning Management Systems, LMS, like Moodle or Google Classroom and the Gigasoft platform is fully customized to eliminate unnecessary features that do not align with local needs.
The custom design integrates very well with the Zimbabwean school calendar and reporting structures like end-of-term reports and ZIMRA-compliant invoicing for fees and incorporates cultural context and teaching styles that resonate with the local teaching staff and students.
Other competitor LMS solutions are generally have limited customization for non-tech-savvy users; relies heavily on internet connectivity; and generally do not have no offline mode or downloadable resources for areas with poor network access. Others are overly complex for small and rural schools in the country.
Some systems have very high server resource requirements and ongoing maintenance costs while the Gigasoft platform offers better adaptability for small-scale schools. The Gigasoft system offers seamless integration with local payment systems like EcoCash makes it financially viable for parents and the school.
Mr. Chikasha added that his system offers high scalability and future-proofing;
• Ability to scale as the school expands or additional schools adopt the platform.
• Plans for mobile app deployment to make the system even more accessible.
• Focus on introducing ID cards with e-learning usernames to streamline access.
• Addressing the digital divide in rural and semi-urban areas.
• Training sessions provided for teachers to ensure smooth adoption of the platform.
• Not just a software provider: Gigasoft offers training, support, and roadmap planning to guide schools from zero to fully functional e-learning.
For Parents, the system offers transparent access to student reports, attendance, and fee balances via the platform, while for the Schools the system builds a competitive edge over schools relying solely on traditional methods, with its centralized management of academic and administrative tasks.
The custom e-learning solution by Gigasoft represents a significant leap forward in modernizing education for Zimbabwe’s schools. It bridges the gap between traditional teaching methods and digital transformation, offering unparalleled accessibility, flexibility, and relevance.
