At the heart of the 2026 tournament is the integration of Advanced Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT).

By mapping every player into a 3D digital twin—based on precise pre-tournament scans—the system can now track limb movements with millimeter accuracy.

When combined with the Adidas Trionda smart ball, which captures touch data at 500 Hz, offside decisions are no longer subjective or sluggish.

The result is a system that alerts officials in real-time, drastically reducing delays and ensuring that even the most marginal calls are grounded in exact, quantified data.

The official match ball, Trionda, is arguably the most significant technological leap in pitch-side hardware.

Containing an inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor, it effectively acts as a high-speed data transmitter.

By recording acceleration, spin, and the exact millisecond of contact, the ball allows the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to instantly distinguish between a clean strike and a potential handball.

This "connected" approach removes the guesswork from critical incidents, providing a clear audit trail for every crucial touch on the field.
