HARARE – Amid intense corporate anticipation, returning diaspora entrepreneur Lurydis Rukudzo Bingandadi today officially launched the inaugural She Connects Beauty, Wellness, and Lifestyle Conference and Expo at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), creating Zimbabwe’s first centralized economic hub for the multi-billion-dollar lifestyle sector.

The high-stakes event opened with premium state validation as the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, presided over the convention as the Guest of Honour. The ministry’s robust backing underscores a deliberate policy shift toward formalizing women-led cottage industries into structured, tax-compliant corporate entities capable of driving national gross domestic product (GDP).

The road to this morning's historic launch served as an unexpected trial of private-sector resilience for the organizing team. Initially scheduled to take place at an entirely different venue in July, sudden structural and timeline shifts forced an absolute overhaul of the event framework, yet over 200 registered female founders, international speakers, and corporate exhibitors maintained their bookings without a single cancellation.

In her opening address, Bingandadi emphasized that the absolute loyalty of the delegates proved that the platform was no longer optional, but an economic imperative. She noted that while local women have spent decades independently manufacturing high-grade skincare, hair, and wellness brands, they have historically been forced to operate in isolation, largely invisible to mainstream financial markets and state procurement pipelines.

Bingandadi, who spent eight years working within the diaspora before returning home to establish her own local manufacturing operations, stated that the conference architecture was forged from raw personal experience rather than corporate theory. The entire platform was designed to dismantle the systemic bureaucratic barriers, closed boardroom doors, and financing bottlenecks that routinely stifle early-stage female market entrants.

Departing from traditional corporate seminars that rely heavily on motivational rhetoric, day one of the expo immediately deployed hard financial and administrative infrastructure. A highly technical legal masterclass was rolled out early in the session, equipping grassroots practitioners with actionable mechanisms to register trademarks, patent indigenous botanical formulations, and legally secure corporate intellectual property.

The economic dialogue deepened during the flagship administrative panel, "Money.

Brand. Empire." Financial heavyweights and veteran corporate strategists stripped down the complexities of commercial scaling, providing attendees with blueprint solutions on how to transition micro-enterprises into highly structured, audit-ready businesses eligible for institutional credit lines and private equity.

Crucially, the summit addressed the human capital crisis underlying self-funded startups by introducing a dedicated executive health and mental wellness track. Recognizing that operational burnout remains a leading cause of early-stage business failure, leading medical specialists instructed founders on clinical stress management, nutritional discipline, and maintaining sustainable mental health while piloting high-growth firms.

This digital division tasks the next generation of young female software developers and logistics innovators with building web applications and cross-border digital payment systems designed to seamlessly export Zimbabwean-made products to global markets.

The inaugural day closed with an aggressive mandate for immediate business-to-business (B2B) contract trading, challenging all 200 delegates to actively convert casual networking into formal supply-chain partnerships. Backed firmly by the Ministry of Women Affairs, She Connects has successfully institutionalized Zimbabwe’s lifestyle economy, establishing an organized, vocal, and commercially potent network set to transform the region's private sector.
